evercold thoughts
im so excited for the new ffxiv expansion evercold!!
theres been a lot of hate towards dawntrail and whatnot, but honestly i really enjoyed it as a sort of inbetween expansion! of course there were flaws, but all in all i appreciate the way it set things up towards the end. also i loved wuk lamat anybody who says anything else get off my neocities.
what i didnt really enjoy with dawntrail was the whole solution nine stuff. streetwear and very futuristic elements and me dont really get along lol. it takes a lot for my fantasy immersion to break but it certainly ventured into that field when i was in solution nine.
which is why im particularly excited for evercold >_< so far im loving how it looks. im kind of meh about the norse mythology stuff, mainly because im so used to it as a norwegian. though i do suppose it makes some architecture shown more home-like for me lol. what really caught my attention however in the preview we were shown at fanfest was the music. its always good but the one area that stuck out for me was the one shown in the water area? naglfar i think it was. it was so nice..
its nice to see ishikawa writing again too, no hate towards any of the other writers but i was missing the particular scion and character dynamics that shes really talented at showcasing. in dawntrail it all felt a little, lackluster. im trying really hard to not have too high expectations either because i do realise this is going to be the first installment in a new saga, which means its probably going to set up quite a few new plotpoints that might take a while to really delve into.. but even thats pretty fun to think about!!
